Forbidden Rose

My eyes drew upon a forbidden rose,
One that's beauty only grows,
The temptation to smell and hold,
Going all in or do I fold?

Afraid to be pricked by thorns,
But tempted even though forewarned,
Picking it will only lead to the end,
Leaving it hurts but hearts do mend,

Caressing a bud that sleeps in shadow,
Touching a thorn it's sharp as an arrow,
I walk away with pain that no one knows,
When my eyes drew upon a forbidden rose.
